Sun City - The Casino

General:Sun City boasts two casino venues, The Sun City Hotel Casino which as the name implies is situated in the Sun City Hotel and The Jungle Casino situated in the Entertainment Centre and you just have to look up at the intricately painted domed ceiling to see where this casino got its name from…it truly is a masterpiece with animals gazing down at you from above and plant life like the Protea popping out in 3D like fashion. Although both casinos are much, much smaller than one would expect from this type of a venue, you still won’t be disappointed. Both casinos cater to smoking and non-smoking guests.

Table Games: The casinos at Sun City offer a total of 38 gaming tables including a variety of Blackjack games (Standard, Switch, Perfect Pairs), Poker (Rais’em Poker, Easy Poker, Stud Poker), American Roulette, Baccarat (Punto Banco & Midi Punto Banco) and more. However no craps tables are offered for dice lovers (sorry!). There are also live bingo games in the Entertainment Centre’s bingo arena. The Sun City Hotel Casino is the better of the two for table game players and the International Room which is located in the smoking casino of the hotel caters to high rollers on an invitation basis.

Machines: The Jungle Casino and Sun City Hotel Casino offer a total of 852 slot machines between them with the largest concentration of slots occurring at the Jungle Casino. Like nearly all casinos, these casinos operate on a smartcard cashless gaming system. On the floors at both casinos you will find a number of video poker and touch blackjack and roulette machines too. If you’re looking for higher denomination play on slots, then make sure that you visit the Sun City Hotel Privé smoking area.

Betting Limits:Slots denominations range from 10c to R5 but are considerably higher in the Hotel’s Privé section and range from R5 to R100. Table limits vary depending on the game, baccarat can be played at R25 to R10 000, Blackjack at R25 to R5000 and Roulette at R2 to R500. The International Room, as mentioned earlier caters to table game high rollers and does not publish betting limits.

Drinks: A number of themed bars surround the casino floors in both the Hotel and Entertainment centre… The Rhino bar is one you’ll want to visit in the Jungle Casino area. There is also a tray service. Drinks are generally quite expensive so budget well in advance.

Promotions: The Sun International group is big on promotions and one of their best promotional programs is their renowned MVG club. The programme features 4 tiers (of course): maroon, silver, gold and platinum and loyalty points are earned as you play and can be redeemed for various rewards at Sun International resorts. Gold and Platinum members do of course receive the best perks such as free entry into the resort, exclusive parking and discounts on accommodation.
