Emperors Palace - The food

THE FOOD
Emperors Palace’s dining and entertainment quarter recently underwent a huge refurbishment and has re-opened with some pretty awesome new offerings. There are fast food vendors like Steers, Anat and the Hotdog Café and family restaurants like Spur and Ocean Basket (which is VERY popular and serves very fresh seafood) to the more upmarket restaurants. One tip though…avoid the Fu Li Hua Cantonese Restaurant, it’s really not great even though Asian people eat there! These however are our favourites:
Casual Dining: Col’Cacchio Pizzeria – This new kid on the block does very well and you may have to wait for a table at peak times but it is worth it if you’re in the mood for pizza or pasta.
Family: Spur – we’re sorry parents but it is true. This is a great restaurant and they have a very unique staff dance that you REALLY need to look out for, it’s not the generic Birthday song that you see at other outlets in this franchise, it’s a song and dance that ALL the staff from the cooks at the Grills to waiters and waitresses and management do and all patrons can join in if they want. The kids love it and we do too.
African Experience: Tribes African Grill and Steakhouse is a great restaurant with an upmarket African theme…food is always, always great especially if you are a meat lover (steaks range from about R85 upwards) and also for those who have exotic tastes for game. The service is great too and we’ve never been disappointed here.
Buffet: Queen of the Nile – jump on Cleo’s boat (yes, it’s literally a boat and even has a water feature underneath it) for a stylish and enjoyable breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet featuring over 120 dishes.
5-star dining: Aurelia’s Restaurant – Dining at its best in a conservatory like restaurant within the Peermont D’oreale Grande Hotel.
