Professional Blackjack Tips
Blackjack is game that combines both luck and skill and you’ll find that the more skilful you become, the luckier you become too. Use the winning tips below which are taken from professional Blackjack strategy and you’re sure to enjoy a longer lasting, more profitable game of Blackjack.
- Always make sure you read the rules of the particular Blackjack game that you intend to play. These differ from casino to casino and variation to variation and can dramatically affect your strategy and game play moves.
- Do not take insurance on Blackjack bets. Insurance pays 2:1 if the Dealer has blackjack but the odds of that are 55:1, so this really isn’t worth it.
- Offensive Blackjack strategy dictates that you should always Double Down on soft 18 if the Dealer’s face up card is a 6 in order to get more money into the game and force the Dealer to “hit” and potentially bust.
- A defensive strategic move is to “Hit” (ask for another card) when you have a total of 16, even when the Dealer has a 7 or Ace as face up card. In general, you will more often receive a 4 or 5 card as opposed to a higher value or face up card.
- Always Stand on two nines when the Dealer’s face up card is Seven because in most variations of the game the Dealer has to stand on 17 (even when it is Soft 17). So if in this type of hand the Dealer gets a 10 you’ll automatically win.
- Always Split pairs of Aces and 8’s.
- Avoid splitting Face Cards and 10’s.
- When it comes to playing multiple deck games, use the Surrender option (if it’s available) when you have either a total of 16 and the Dealer’s face up card is a 9, 10 or Ace OR if you have a total of 15 and the Dealer’s face up card is a 10.
- Never Surrender a soft 15 or 16 or a pair of 8’s.
- Remember that you cannot Surrender a hand if the Dealer has a face up card which is an Ace as he/she may have Blackjack and if they do your bet will be lost.
